Brittongue is the pen name of an individual that was born, and lives, in Britain. From an early age, before attending primary school, he would write short poems in a small book and keep it under his pillow at night, as a treasured collection of expressions. Whilst attending primary school, he began to stop writing poetry, for various reasons.
It was in the first couple of years at secondary school, approx. 13 years of age, where a new student, whom was from South Africa, attended the same school as himself, and they became good friends, and that student introduced him to hip hop music, especially old-school hip hop music, as well as writing raps and posting them on online forums after school in the local library; that inspired brittongue, whom had a different pen name at the time, to develop the skills of writing rhymes in a hip-hop-esque style, whilst incorporating the teachings from English lessons at school. The student from South Africa moved back to South Africa after around 2 years of living in Britain and brittongue began to stop writing poetry.
It was sometime after graduating from university, in health scientific research, that brittongue began to write poetry again; this time, developing the content as published on this site, from further understanding the importance of using poetry as an accessible outlet to convey important, and meaningful, notions.
